Wonder-land

Since childhood, I grew up in a big city where my interaction with nature was always confined within the boundaries of urban experience. Nature blended into controlled fragments: the park on the corner, the trees lining the neighborhood, the space where the dog is walked. There was also the “finca”—a domesticated and commercialized version of nature, a space constructed for human enjoyment.

My grandparents, coming from the countryside, have a deeper understanding and intrinsic connection with the natural environment. For them, being part of nature means recognizing the interdependence between human life and the environment. However, between their generation and mine, a gap emerged—a distancing fueled by life in cities.

This project was born from that gap, seeking to reconnect with what has been lost. WONDER-LAND is, for me, a tribute to the beauty and biodiversity that inhabit nature, captured through small and sometimes abstract images taken in six countries: Colombia, France, Luxembourg, Malta, Romania, and Georgia. Through macro photography, as well as distortions and blurs, I have sought to reclaim those details that often go unnoticed in our daily routines, reminding us of the richness of the natural environment. The photos, some aesthetic and others that play with the viewer’s perception, reflect a conscious attempt to slow down and notice what really matters.
